L'Étrangleuse are two girls and two boys playing an undefined form of minimalist rock and free song in four voices, amplifying the dialogue between a bird's-eye maple pedal harp and a goatskin n'goni djéli, over the archaic grooves of a bass-drumset decked out in trinkets. The original duo, formed by Mélanie Virot, a classical harpist accustomed to taking her imposing instrument far from its usual contexts, and Maël Salètes, veteran of the Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp, plunge us into an elusive and irresistible music, free of styles, bewitching, even unreal.
