Wednesday 26/07 PLANPRAZ

Master of the Oud, singer and composer, Dhafer Youssef is at the forefront of a contemporary music movement that brings together East and West. He is one of the most inventive Oud players in the world and has succeeded in liberating this instrument from its traditional role by introducing it into jazz. He learned his first musical skills from his grandfather by singing verses from the Qur'an, and then began to sing from the minaret at the age of five.
For his album "Sounds of Mirror", he brought together the Indian percussionist Zakir Hussein, whom he sees not only as a tabla player, but as a vocal character through his percussion, the Turkish clarinettist Husnu Senendirici and the faithful Elvin Aarset on guitar. A collaboration that gives rise to a treasure trove of sensations, a true meditative and spiritual refuge.
