A gifted pianist and five-time Grammy Award nominee, Christian Sands trained with Gregory Porter and Christian McBride. At the head of an explosive and creative trio, he explores the roots of post-bop and swing, invoking them with great modernity, moving from Afro-Cuban rhythms to hip-hop. After a 2-year residency in Shanghai, he released "Be Water", remembering this phrase from Bruce Lee of whom he is a fan: "Empty your mind. Be formless, formless, like water. ... Water can sink or crash. Be water, my friend."
